The number of Ethereum addresses with a balance of 1 ETH or more has reached a new high of 1,175,681. This figure has been growing throughout the year amid the boom of the DeFi industry and the increasing popularity of cryptocurrencies.
According to the analytical company Glassnode, the number of Ethereum addresses containing 1 ETH or more has reached a new record and now stands at 1,175,681. This may be due to a significant increase in the price of ETH, the boom of the DeFi industry, and the increasing popularity of the industry as a whole.
The number of wallets that hold at least 1 ETH has been growing throughout 2020. In January, this figure was 972,924 addresses, and in June it exceeded 1 million amid the boom of the DeFi industry. Over the past six months, the number of such wallets has increased by more than 12%.
However, user interest has not yet reached the levels recorded in 2017, when the price of ETH rose to $1,300. Then the number of wallets containing at least 1 ETH increased by more than 1,000% over the year. According to CoinMarketCap, ETH is currently trading at $597.
Last week, the first phase of Ethereum 2.0 was launched. In addition, the interest of institutional investors in the cryptocurrency is growing. Recently, the Canadian regulator approved the launch of a fund for investing in ETH, and Grayscale Investments announced a 9:1 split of the shares of the Ethereum Trust fund.
