The famous NBA basketball club “Sacramento kings” has announced a partnership with ConsenSys and the launch of an auction platform for the sale of sporting goods based on the Ethereum blockchain.
The auctions use a ConsenSys platform for tracking supply chains called Treum. It allows you to authenticate each auction lot and make the entire transaction history transparent. Using the platform, you can track all operations with the lot, including exhibitions, sales or rentals of goods.
At the moment, there is only one lot on the site-the Jersey of Sacramento kings defenseman buddy hield. Fans have already made more than 50 bids and the lot price is approaching $700. The auction is for charity, so all proceeds will go to the hurricane Dorian Foundation.
The winning auction participant will receive a certificate of authenticity of the inventory, as well as a special digital token that stores historical data about the product.
“We have integrated blockchain into various aspects of our business. We are talking about a loyalty program for our fans. Now, with the help of an innovative blockchain solution, they can also safely buy various sporting goods, ” said the club’s technical Director, Ryan Montoya.
The Sacramento kings became the first club in the NBA to accept cryptocurrencies to pay for tickets and related products. In 2018, the Sacramento kings planned to mine ether, and last year announced the release of its own token.
