Alibaba denies partnership with bonus cryptocurrency platform Lolli

The press service of the Chinese e-Commerce giant Alibaba denies cooperation with the Lolli app, which gives users the opportunity to receive cashback in BTC for purchases in stores.

At the beginning of the week, it was reported that the Lolli bonus platform began to cooperate with Alibaba, which allows users from the United States to receive cashback in BTC through the Lolli app when shopping in Alibaba. However, the press service of Alibaba Group denies the partnership, which was announced by the CEO of Lolli Alex Adelman (Alex Adelman).

“One of the contractors Alibaba.com hired a subcontractor who mediated the affiliate marketing program with Lolli. This was done without my knowledge Alibaba.com”, – said the representative of Alibaba. “Contractor Alibaba.com terminates the relationship with the subcontractor who worked with Lolli. As a result, Lolli should no longer advertise collaboration or attract traffic to Alibaba.com”.

The company’s press service added that Lolli “never had the right to apply for a partnership with Alibaba.com or imply a partnership with Alibaba Group.” In response, Adelman said, “we need to integrate to work with sales on someone’s site.”

Despite the high – profile statement by Lolli, when promoting this campaign on “bachelor Day” – the equivalent of “Black Friday” in the United States, the statements of the Adelman team were not completely unfounded. Contractual agreements allowed the use of “Alibaba-related keywords” in online materials. Since may 2019, the startup has already accrued cashback in BTC to customers
AliExpress.

According to the head of the press service of Lolli Aubrey Strobel (Aubrey Strobel), Alibaba.com tested Lolli’s services for 24 hours during the “bachelor Day” campaign, and then terminated the collaboration after information in the press drew attention to the process.

“There appears to have been a misunderstanding on the Alibaba side, and while this is unfortunate, we look forward to working with Alibaba.com in the future,” Strobel said in a statement. “In the meantime, AliExpress is still available to receive bonuses on Lolli.”

An Alibaba spokesperson said there was no direct contact between Lolli and Alibaba Group, despite AliExpress’s processed promotions. The company representative added that Alibaba Group does not work with any companies related to bitcoin.
